When does the Emerald Isle, NC Christmas Parade take place?
Each year, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, locals and visitors flock to Emerald Isle, NC for the official kick-off of the Christmas season. For the sixteenth year in a row, the Emerald Isle Christmas Parade, which is scheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 3PM, invites you to get into the holiday spirit!
What route does the Emerald Isle Christmas Parade follow?
The parade route will begin at the Town of Emerald Isle government complex and end at Mangrove Drive, near the CVS in Emerald Isle, NC. Prior to the start at 3PM, children and adults line up on both sides of Emerald Drive (also known as Hwy 58) in anticipation of the Emerald Isle Christmas Parade. Parking is available in the nearby neighborhoods along the parade route.
Santa, Cider, and a Christmas Tree Lighting
At the Emerald Isle Christmas Parade, you’ll hear festive music and see a variety of cheery, holiday-themed floats as they pass. From most floats candy is tossed to excited onlookers. The parade concludes with an exciting finale that features the one and only Santa Claus, who rides on the float at the very end of the parade!
The Christmas parade is just the start of a festive afternoon on Emerald Isle. At the conclusion of the show, crowds gather at Merchant's Park adjacent to the Emerald Isle Visitor’s Center to visit with Santa Claus. In the park, visitors will also find free refreshments, including hot cider and cookies. There’s also a holiday caroling sing-a-long that leads up to the annual Christmas Tree Lighting! After the parade, be sure to follow the crowds to catch all of these exciting activities and to see the glittering Emerald Isle Christmas Tree! Attend Other Area Events
The nearby towns of Swansboro and Morehead City each host their own holiday celebration! The Swansboro Christmas Flotilla is a fantastic event. It takes place the day after Thanksgiving on the Swansboro waterfront. There, you’ll be able to watch as a parade of decorated boats sail down the waters. Enjoy treats like funnel cakes, cider, and hot cocoa while you enjoy the sights. Keep your eyes peeled for an appearance by Santa!
Another great option is the Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla, which takes place in Morehead City. This parade features boats, yachts, oars, kayaks, and other types of watercraft that have been fantastically decorated. Each of the vessels is judged, and prizes for the best boats are later awarded. Nothing says “Christmas on the Crystal Coast” quite like boats and holiday lights!
