HURRICANE DORIAN was no Hurricane Florence

Hurricane Dorian was rather benign, relatively speaking

There is an old adage in real estate: "Real estate is local." The same advice applies to weather reporting. "Weather reports are local."

That's because the NATIONAL NBC News reported that "...Hurricane Dorian leaves NC island town wondering if it can recover." That town is Emerald Isle and this headline could not be further from the truth.

By the time Hurricane Dorian arrived along the Crystal Coast early Friday morning, it had been downgraded to a Category 1 storm. The eye remained offshore as the storm brushed Bogue Banks.

LOCALLY, most homeowners here in Emerald Isle expressed relief that there wasn't significant destruction outside damage caused by a waterspout spun out by one of the outer bands of Hurricane Dorian on Thursday which struck the Boardwalk RV park and a camper storage lot. No one was hurt in the incident.

"There was absolutely no damage to my property," said Lenny Julius an Emerald Isle resident.

The curfew in Emerald Isle was lifted at 12 noon on Friday and it was a lovely weather weekend for residents and vacationers, alike.

Simply put, homeowners, vacationers and visitors to the Crystal Coast need to pay attention to the LOCAL weather stations/reports for the most accurate forecasts and weather related news.
