The month of November is always a good time to remind ourselves to be grateful for the good things we get to enjoy in this life and to cultivate an attitude of gratitude all year long. Whether you live in Emerald Isle, NC or vacation on our beaches, there's a lot to be thankful for. I've compiled my top ten list of reasons I am thankful for this beautiful barrier island that I am fortunate enough to call home. See what's on my list and then let me know what's on yours.
1. All beach all the time.
We are so fortunate here in Emerald Isle, NC to have beach access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days of the year. What's not to love about that? There's loveliness to behold all year long on the 12 miles of Emerald Isle, NC beaches and each season displays its unique coastal qualities: the busy summer beach vibe, the colorful fall splendor, the stark peace and quiet of winter, and the blossoming beauty of spring. Be thankful anytime you can be here on our beautiful shoreline. And if you're anything like us, you'll be wistful for Emerald Isle during the times you're not here.
2. Outdoor fun for everyone.
I am exceedingly thankful that, in addition to the inherent coastal beauty of Emerald Isle, NC, the outdoor fun is limitless. Whether it's on the water, on the beach, on a fishing pier, on a boat, on a golf course, on a hiking trail, on a bike—or whatever means get you outside to have fun in the fresh salty air, embrace the outdoors!!! 3. History around every turn.
All around Emerald Isle, NC we are honored to be surrounded by local history and maritime heritage found here. 6. The best local events and festivals.
If you read my blog on a regular basis, and I sure hope you do, you already know that we here in Emerald Isle, NC are surrounded lots of local events, festivals and family-friendly activities that are a perfect reflection of what Emerald Isle, NC and the surrounding Crystal Coast region are all about. From the North Carolina Seafood Festival and the Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Festival to the fishing tournaments, beach music festivals and more, there are always exciting local events to attend, year 'round.
7. Delicious local seafood.
I am so grateful that Emerald Isle, NC offers fresh and delicious seafood served up with some of the best scenery around. For an awesome dining experience, visit a restaurant where the seafood is LOCAL. If you prefer to catch the fish yourself, by all means go for it! Drop a line off the pier, from the beach, or off a boat and then bring your catch of the day to your home and cook up a fabulous meal.
8. Amazing attractions.
Living in Emerald Isle, NC we are thankfully right near some of the Crystal Coast's most amazing attractions. The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Fort Macon, the NC Maritime Museum, the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, and the wild horses of Shackleford Banks are some of the local favorites.
9. Awesome day trips.
Just when you think we are running out of things to do, Emerald Isle, NC is close and convenient to nearby towns, waterfronts and sightseeing and we are mighty thankful for all the possibilities. The Morehead City and Beaufort waterfronts, Swansboro-by-the-Sea, Shackleford Banks, Cape Lookout, and historic New Bern are only a few of the many day trip options that are easily reachable in under an hour from Emerald Isle.
10. Beautiful places to LIVE.
I am thankful that Emerald Isle, NC has so many lovely properties and lots. These homes give us close and convenient beach and sound access without taking away from the natural coastal beauty of our shoreline.
