SANTA by the SEA

December 14, 2019 | 10:30 am-5:00 pm

Bring the family to a one-of-a-kind event where the North Pole collides with the Bogue Banks beach town of Pine Knoll Shores (which is just a short coastal drive east on Salter Path Rd./Hwy 58 from Emerald Isle). On Saturday, December 14, Santa by the Sea at the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores offers children the chance to have a one-on-one visit with Santa as they share their "wishes in front of the fishes".

In addition to a personal visit with the big man in red himself, each child age 12 and under receives a professional 5x7 photo to take home. Parents will be happy to know that additional prints are also available for purchase. The fun doesn't stop there. Included in the admission price that day are magic shows held in the Big Rock Theatre, making holiday cards and an ornament, snack preparation for Santa's reindeer, and elves working with the kids on holiday crafts to take home. Don't forget to leave time for Mrs. Claus as she reads her favorite stories. Event tickets for this action-packed day are $9.95 per participant in addition to Aquarium admission fee or membership. Event tickets will be sold from 9:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. on the day of event, and on-site only. Tickets are required only for children participating in the event. Adults are not required to pay for an event ticket, regular admission or membership gives them entry to observe event activities.

WALKING in PEACEFUL SOLITUDE

Every day, rain or shine. Event is FREE

Emerald Isle has several walking routes that I use regularly during December and every other month of the year, for that matter. Walking gives you a special gift of refection and gratitude and serenity, three gifts we always are in need of. Some of my favorite walking paths:

The Emerald Path extends approximately 11 miles from the Indian Beach town limits all the way to The Point at Bogue Inlet. The path winds through grassy areas along Coast Guard Road to Loon Drive, snakes through wooded areas from Loon Drive to the Welcome Center, meanders through the downtown district and passes the Municipal Complex at Black Skimmer Drive and ends at the eastern town limits.

McLean-Spell Park is accessed at the end of Maritime Forest Drive off Emerald Drive or off Sound Drive just east of Live Oak Street in Emerald Isle, it is a heavily wooded 30 acre park with about a mile of trail.

EMERALD ISLE WOODS PARK 41-Acre park located at 9404 Coast Guard Road off of Coast Guard Road; turn right just after reaching Deer Horn Dunes.

STATION STREET PARK Located at 11001 Coast Guard Road.  A short ¼ mile walk to the beach and our famous “Point”.  Take Station Street to Channel Drive to reach the beach.
